Who We Are

One Voice Michigan (OVM) brings women-focused organizations together to partner in supporting progressive policy and women who are running for and serving in elected positions.

By maximizing the efforts of every member organization and eliminating gaps and redundancies, we can strengthen our impact in enacting state policy to improve the lives of women in Michigan.

OVM was established as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization in August 2024. OVM does not contribute directly to candidates or Political Action Committees (PACs).

for:

Under Michigan’s Democratic Trifecta from 2023 through 2024, we saw the passage of much-needed policy in the areas of abortion access, gun violence prevention, education funding, and climate action.
One Voice seeks to build upon that progress by:

  • Expanding reproductive healthcare access for poor women

  • Making healthcare available to everyone

  • Strengthening organized labor rights

  • Improving employment conditions such as better wages and time off

  • Backing state and local budgets that support underrepresented communities

  • Increasing access to capital for woman-owned businesses

  • Reducing the cost of higher education

  • Increasing gun safety

  • Endorsing clean energy and climate action

  • Strengthening public education

  • Supporting affordable and accessible housing

Mission

To expand power for women in Michigan in order to achieve meaningful change in policy and representation.

Vision

A Michigan where policies and laws increase the quality of life, autonomy, and rights of women and build communities that thrive.

Values

One Voice understands that diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial to improving the lives of all Michiganders. When policymakers are made up of a diverse group of people, they better reflect the communities they serve and are more likely to support progressive policies that benefit women. We pride ourselves on the racial, ethnic, religious, age, and gender identity diversity of Michigan’s women leaders. As such, we are inclusive defenders of a democracy where women’s voices are heard, respected, and plentiful.
